Theme - ‘Durgotsav’ is not merely a religious ceremony of the Bengalees. The impact of this autumnal ceremony is perceptible in all the strata of life and society. The feeling of festivity generated through the decoration of the pandals and of the idols, conveys a social message and various aspects of life are revealed. It is evident in the crafts of different artists in the past few years. But there are many artists who remain in the darkness of misery even to this day. Seeking redress to such injustice, our samity is going to uphold the marvelous artistry of a neglected sect of craftsmen in the district of Bnakura on the 75th year of our celebrations. Some of these artists were felicitated with the President Award in recognition of their artistry but inspite of the crown of honour on their head they have to earn their livelihood by running small tea-stall. Durgotsav, the greatest of Bengali festivals stands meaning less for this hapless lot who are unable to make both ends meet. The Dokra Art – the once prosperous artistic legacy of Bengal as well as of the nation is now on the wane. This year our focus is on these Dokra artists and this neglected area of art. So the Theme of this year is “Panchattor – E Ese Ranga Matir Desheâ€
